THE WISH STEALERS by Tracy Travis

Mariah, a very old woman, gives Griffin some very old pennies. Griffin later finds out that they were stolen wishes, and if she doesn’t do anything, she will be the next wish stealer, filled with evil. The only ways to avoid the curse is to either give it back to the original wish stealer, or give all the stolen wishes back. But Mariah dies the next day, so Griffin’s only choice is to return the wishes, but Griffin doesn’t know who the wishes belong to, or what the wishes mean.
My favorite part is when Griffin (a girl) returned all the stolen wishes.
I think both boys and girls who are 9-12 years old will enjoy this book

SURPRISE ISLAND by Gertrude Chandler Warner

This book is about four children who visit an island during the summer time. During the time they are on the island, they live in an old barn that has an attic. They explore the island and find Native American artifacts as well as shells and flowers.
My favorite part of the book is when Mike finds an old box with a five dollar bill in hidden in the ground.

THE UNDERNEATH by Kathi Appelt

A calico cat and her kittens meet a basset hound named Ranger, who is neglected and abused by his owner. He lives under his owner’s house (hence the title, The Underneath). The kittens must stay in the Underneath, but when one kitten goes out to explore, he and his mother are taken by Ranger’s owner! Will they escape, or face some unknown danger? Read to find out!

P.S. There is also another story within this story that eventually joins the original plot, which includes secrets, shape shifting, and more! Please read this!
The scariest part was when the calico cat and her kitten are taken, because I had no idea what Ranger’s owner would do to them! He is a cruel man, so I was certain something awful would happen. This story has a lot of suspenseful moments like this.
I think both boys and girls who are 8 to 108 years old will enjoy this book, because it is a little complicated, but if you’re old enough, you will LOVE it!

GOOSEBUMPS: THE BEAST FROM THE EAST by R.L. Stine

Ginger, the Main character, and her 2 twin brothers get lost in a forest on a camping trip with their family. Soon the forest changes and all of the plants turn different! But the strangest thing of all is the creatures there! There are large blue rabid bear looking things, that want to play a game like tag, but the rules are different! If you lose. . . You’re dinner!
My favorite part is when Ginger gets all different colored sap and sticky-ness all over her hands & hair, plus she gets all wrapped up in rattle snakes, but all the creatures say is “WOW! You even went in for extra credit! That’s plus 3,000 points! Are you sure you’ve never played this game before?”
I think boys and girls who are 8-14 years old will enjoy this book.

My favorite part was when Marco and Polo came home and found two kittens sleeping in their bed and the kittens were giving Marco and Polo a hard time.  Such as Marco tried to play with his toy but one of the kittens wouldn’t let him and then when Marco didn’t want the toy the kitten wanted him to have it.

THE FIRE WITHIN by Chris D'Lacey

When a man named David is searching for a place to stay so then he starts to live with the Pennykettle family, in the note for the house it said ”we hope you don’t mind cats and dragons". David was quickly gaining suspicion what is the dragon’s real purpose? You can find out by reading this amazing page-turner.
My favorite part in this book is when David asks if one of the dragons could make his tea warmer.

INTO THE LAND OF UNICORNS by Bruce Coville

In this book there is an 11-year-old girl named Cara, she lives with her grandmother Ivy Morris. One day mother Morris and Cara are being chased. Quickly they dove into a small church.  Waiting silently Cara was dizzy with thoughts. Who is chasing us? Did the person loose us when we dove in the church? Quickly her grandma tells her to take her special (the special is Ivy’s necklace). They climbed to the top of the church and Ivy asks her to do the unthinkable jump off of the top of the church. I think you have to read to find out what happens.
My favorite part of the book is when Lady Firethroat takes lightfoot and Cara to her cave.
I think both boys and girls who are all ages will enjoy this book
