DIARY OF A DRUMMER BOY by Marlene Targ Brill

This is  a fictional story about a drummer boy who lead troops into battle during the Civil war.  It is based on a true life drummer boy.                                                                                                                                 The scariest part of the book was the first war and the details of the wounded soldiers.    
One of my favorite parts of  the illustrations                                                                                                    I would recommend  this book for boys who are 9 years old.                                                                     RATING        ****
