GABY, LOST AND FOUND by Angela Cervantes
Gaby is a wonderful girl who feels a bit lost and unwanted, just like the pets at the animal shelter. Her mom gets deported to Honduras, leaving her in the care of her father. She barely knows him, and he works all the time. Worst of all, he doesn't even seem to want her around. She spends most of her time with family friends and at the nearby animal shelter.
Slowly, Gaby becomes attached to the people and pets at the shelter. She takes on the "job" of writing ads for the pet adoptions and gradually she finds her own place in her life. But not without some rough patches along the way!
ACTIVITIES:
- Group discussion about the book
- Look at a map for places in the world (like Honduras) and where Gaby lives
- Make a slide in our pet adoption presentation
- Choose a pet
- Create a name & profile to help people understand this pet and what it needs to find a happy, forever home.
- I will print out the slides and put them on the Library/Maker Space bulletin board.
Hope you had fun!
