In Castle Redmont it's choosing day. Will, the main character was not choosen for anything. But then the head Ranger Halt, a spy selected Will to be his apprentice. Then will goes on a dangerous to beat the Kalkara, a bear type creature.
The main character Horace had trouble with three bullies
Will had trouble with mastering Halt's tactics.
Will learned how to use a bow and arrow, cook, ride a Ranger horse, use Ranger knives, and sneak around places with being unseen.
It reminded me of how I used to struggle with a bow and arrow at my summer camp.

THE RUINS OF GORLAN by John Flanagan
This book is about a 15 year old boy named Will who is a rangers apprentice who faces great adventures. Also his teacher Halt gives him a great deal of training day and night. Then a unexpected twist comes at the end when Will has a mission. And Halt is in danger.
One of the struggles was that three second year battleschool apprentices were attacking his friend Horace badly. Then one afternoon the three apprentices beaded Will cause they thought he embarrassed the battle school in a boar hunt. Also the long endless travel back to Castle Redmont to tell a urgent message to the baron.
After an unsayable amount of training Will's maturity increased a ton. Also the battle with the Kalkara made him much more independent and brave. Also while he trained day after day his archery skill improved.
He sort of relates to me because when ever I'm alone in the house and no one else is with me I here a lot of different noises.

RANGER'S APPRENTICE: THE BURNING BRIDGE by John Flanagan
The plot of the book is: Will, a ranger, ( a sneaky person who is trained with bows and knives), and Horace, an apprentice knight, go on a mission to find allies for the upcoming war-only yo find that everyone in the neighboring village is gone. Then they meet Evalyn, a maid, and go on there journey.
The main character in conflict with is: Morgarath, a commander of an army
The struggle for the main character is: Will couldn't find anyone in the neighboring village and he had no clue where everyone went.
The main character changed to the course of the book when: In the beginning, Will was scared of going on a mission alone but in the end, he isn't scared and he's aware of his powers.
I can relate to the character because: Will does archery and I do archery too.
Rating: ***** ( 5 star)

THE BURNING BRIDGE by John Flanagan
This epic book is about when Jillian (Halt's first apprentice) rides to Halt's hut. It appears that King Duncan's army on the plains of Uthal needs reinforcements from Celtica. The next day two ranger apprentices and one warrior apprentice named Jillian, Will and Horace set out for Celtica. But when they cross the borders all the villages are empty. A couple days later they encounter three robbers and a girl. the next night they have to hide from a party of wargals whipping Celtic miners. What will they see next? To find out read the book.
The scary part was when Will kept missing the wargals because I started to think that they where going to capture Will at the very beginning.
I would recommend this book for boys and girls at the age of 10+
