Jacob Lansa comes with his dad, whom everyone calls Doc, Flanna Brenna, Jay Silver, and Buzz on a jaguar expedition in the Amazon rain forest. Sounds fun, right? It's not. There are many challenges out in the wilderness and deadly diseases floating around the thick canopy. Jake is losing hope. To top it off, Doc may have caught malaria. Will they arrive home safe?
Jake is in conflict with Fred Stoats. They disagree on the jaguar, what to do with it, and they just plain don't like each other.
He changes his feelings about the jaguar expedition from thinking it's silly and obnoxious to coming home feeling good.
I can relate to Jake because we both like outdoors and adventure.
I rate this book ***.

JAGUAR by, Roland Smith
Jake is on a boat with Doc, Buzz, Flanna, and Bill. Doc is doing a project on jaguars and they are in a forest near a lake. They were on a boat and had a terrible accident. 2 People got hurt on the boat, Doc and Bill. Bill died from the fire, and Doc only had a burnt hand.
The most interesting part was when they were stranded (kind of) and Jake found a town with the strange guy from before that broke into one of the head quarters.
I would recommend this for boys and girls both ages 9-13.
RATING ****
