GABY, LOST AND FOUND by Angela Cervantes

Gaby is a wonderful girl who feels a bit lost and unwanted, just like the pets at the animal shelter. Her mom gets deported to Honduras, leaving her in the care of her father. She barely knows him, and he works all the time. Worst of all, he doesn't even seem to want her around. She spends most of her time with family friends and at the nearby animal shelter.

Slowly, Gaby becomes attached to the people and pets at the shelter. She takes on the "job" of writing ads for the pet adoptions and gradually she finds her own place in her life. But not without some rough patches along the way!

ACTIVITIES:
  1. Group discussion about the book
  2. Look at a map for places in the world (like Honduras) and where Gaby lives
  3. Make a slide in our pet adoption presentation
    1. Choose a pet
    2. Create a name & profile to help people understand this pet and what it needs to find a happy, forever home.
  4. I will print out the slides and put them on the Library/Maker Space bulletin board.
Hope you had fun!

BUNNICULA A TALE OF MYSTERY Deborah and James Howe

So two a cat and a dog named Harold and Chester live with a nice family the Monroe's. When the Monroe's are at the movies they fined a rabbit. They decide to take it home and they choose a name Bunnicula. A few days later a tomato turned white then all of the other vegetables  did to. Harold and Chester think Bunnicula is a vampire. Can they keep them and the Monroe's safe?

Harold the dog was in a struggle with both Bunnicula and Chester because he thought Bunnicula was a vampire sometimes and other times he was fighting with Chester how Bunnicula was not a vampire.

Sometimes the conflict for Harold was getting away and keeping safe from Bunnicula and other times he was trying to convince Chester that Bunnicula is not a vampire she's totally fine.

First Harold was scared of Bunnicula and didn't want to go near her but at the end of the book he got close with Bunnicula and liked her.

I related to Harold because sometimes people will say don't go near someone for some reason then I end up going near her and she's really nice and I like her and Chester said don't go near Bunnicula because she is a vampire and he ends up going near her and Harold likes her as a friend.

BABYMOUSE PUPPY LOVE by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm

This book is about a mouse named Babymouse. Babymouse really wants a puppy. And one day, a lost pitiful puppy comes up to her. She feeds it, washes it, and picks up it's waste, yuck! Through all the days of her puppy Buddy chewing her stuff up. Until one day....
My favorite part was when Babymouse accidentally left all of her pets' cages open and they jumped out and had a party under the bed.
I would not recommend this book. I think girls 4-5 years old would enjoy this book.
