Chet Roscow is a 10 year old boy living In Elm Hills, New Jersey in 1916.At that time scientists didn't study sharks so people thought they were harmless. In the summer of 1916, there were shark attacks in a creek and at the shore in New Jersey.
Chet Roscow was in conflict with the townspeople and a shark.
Chet got bumped by a shark while swimming in the creek so he told the townspeople, but no one believed him.
Chet learned not to prank people. He became close friends with people he barely knew. He got bitten by a shark shark and had part of his leg chewed off.
Chet is my age and we both enjoy swimming with our friends.

I SURVIVED HURRICANE KATRINA by Lauren Tarshis
This book is about a boy named Barry in Louisiana struggling against hurricane Katrina. His family was about to move somewhere safe, but his sister got ill. Barry was safe in the house when a strong wind pushed him to the water. Now Barry is fighting against the fierce storm.
Barry was pushed by the strong wind in the storm, sending him to land somewhere way away from his family. No he has to fight against he hurricane.
In the beginning Barry was kind of afraid of the storm, like when he woke up water rushed into the house when the storm was beginning to get worse. Now Barry is getting braver in the story, like when he got some food when water snakes were roaming in the water.
I do not relate o this because I was not wept away by the wind into a hurricane.

I SURVIVED THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC (1912) by Lauren Tarshis
This book is about a boy named George and his sister Phoebe, and Aunt Daisy. George always gets into trouble and doesn't try hard in school. George is on a vacation on the Titanic (the greatest ship ever built) when they hit an iceberg and the ship starts to sink. What will happen next? Read it to find out.
The main character is George, whose conflict is surviving the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.
George changes throughout the book because he cares for someone else besides himself. He went went from being reckless to being not so reckless, like trying to outsmart the scar-faced man instead of fighting him.
I related to this character because i went on an adventure once and got lost in the woods!

I Survived Hurricane Katrina by Lauren Tarshis
Barry and his family live in New Orleans. Once they here about Hurricane Katrina, they start to pack up and hit the road. On the bridge, Barry's little sister started getting sick. They have no choice but to turn around and wait out the storm. Soon, Barry's enemy's dog floats up with his family lost. A boat comes up to their house and rescues them. The boat driver Nell, leaves Cruz the dog and Barry at the dock alone. Do you think Barry and Cruz can survive the storm?
I liked the part when Barry and his family are at New York City. I was very happy! It made me feel protected.
I would recommend this book to boys and girls who are 7+ in age.
I would rate this book **** stars.

I SURVIVED THE BOMBING OF PEARL HARBOR, 1941 by Lauren Tarshis
It started when Danny was play with his friend at Pearl Harbor then some Japanese airplanes came bombing the boats. When he saw the boat sink the airplane came down shooting at Danny and Danny was running to get help. Then his mom's friend came to get him out. When Danny got to his mom's friends car Danny saw blood on the car door and on his arm. he explained how he got the bloody arm. When they got in the car they drove to the base when they got there the base was bombed to! only 3 people where alive but really hurt.
The most scariest part of the book was when the Japanese airplanes bombed all the boats from pearl harbor and came swooping down and started shooting at Danny.
I think both, boys, and girls who are 7-10 years old will enjoy this book.
I would give this book a rating of 5 stars for the max.
