THE ONE LEGGED GHOST Jean Lifton

One day in Southern Japan a mysterious ghost came to the village.Yoshi a boy in the village was climbing a tree when he saw the ghost gliding down from the sky and he told everyone in the village. The village headman made a shrine and they dressed up in their best clothes for the ghost and put it in the mountains where it came from gliding down. The village headman threw a party for the ghost,or at least what they thought a ghost.
My favorite part of the book was when the village headman thought that the ghost was the sun. The              sun was shining right in front of him and I thought that was funny.

I would recommend this book to both boys and girls who are ages 3-116

TEA WITH MILK by Allen Say

This book is about a girl, and she's craving something, but she doesn't know what exactly. Is it I
independence? going back to her home country? Working an important job? you'll have to find out.

My favorite part in the book is when May (the main character) decides to leave Japan (her parents home country) and go back to America (her home country.)

I would recommend this book to girls ages 5-10 years old.

GAIA & GIRLS WAY OF WATER By: Lee Welles

This book is about a girl named Miho who used to live with her parents, but they died. They all loved water. Her parents were scientists who tried to find whale songs. Miho has to live with her Uncle who hates his sister (Miho's mom). They go somewhere else to do Bono and Miho tries to make her Uncle happy and not mad at her.
My favorite part of this book is when Miho punches a shark and gets a mark that will stay for ever. She and her parents were out on the ocean in a row boat. A shark comes to Miho while swimming and chases her out of the water, but leaves after the punch.
I think girls who are 9+ years old would enjoy this book.
