GOOSEBUMPS: THE GIRL WHO CRIED MONSTER BY R.L Stine

Twelve year old Lucy Dark shouldn't be afraid of a monster. Should she?As her summer reading progresses she realizes her "mentor"(Mr. Mortman) is a little odd. Lucy set's off to find out what's going on. To bad Lucy has told to many monster stories to the point when nobody believes her when she is actually telling the truth.

I think the grossest part of this book was when Mr. Mortman ate a turtle!

I would recommend this book for both boys and girls ages 8-10

CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT by Sierra Harimann

Hannah Malloy is having a bad day. Since her parents are divorced, her dad remarried. The day Hannah moves in  with her dad, her beloved cat Icky runs away. Just when Hannah thinks  things can't get any worse, she finds out her house is next to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery! Hannah is also nervous about the spooky ghost cat, and shes determined  to find out if it's real. Will Hannah crack the mystery?
My favorite part was when Hannah and mean stepsister Madison heard scratching at their windows.

I recommend this book to girls 8-14 years old.

WELCOME TO DEAD HOUSE by R.L Stine

Amanda and Josh move to a old house on a shady street and Amanda thinks their new house is haunted but everyone else thinks she's just homesick. When they finally find some friends, they have a big secret, and so does the whole town. Will they figure it out?  And when they do, will it just kill them?

The grossest/scariest part was with Amanda, Josh their friend, Ray. Ray is with them in a graveyard and it seems like he's hiding something, and when Josh shines the flashlight on him, he is affected.  Is Ray okay?

I would recommend this book for both boys and girls from ages 8-11.

THE SEER OF SHADOWS by Avi

The book The Seer Of Shadows is about a boy named Horace Carpentine who brought back a girl from the dead. The girl who he brought back from the dead had a goal to kill her neglecters. My favorite part in the book is when the girl tries to put the house on fire. I think children who are 13 years old will enjoy this book. Just finished reading many of Edgar Allan Poe's works (haven't read them since I was a teenager!!!) Sinister, creepy, and full of mystery from the father of the modern detective story. Read carefully...you might not sleep tonight!!!
