MILKWEED by Jerry Spinelli

Misha Pilsudski is a gypsy that steals, eats, and sleeps.  He wants to become a Nazi [jackboot] until he learns of the trains that are coming for the Jews and will bring them to camps to torture and kill them.  He tries to bring his NEW family [he was an orphan that taught himself how to steal} to safety.
The best part is when Misha taunts Buffo who tries to then kill him.
I would recommend this book to both boys and girls ages 10-13 years old.

The Book Thief

"The Book Thief", by Zusak...For adults...a GREAT read. The book itself in quasi-diary format, set in Nazi Germany...with Death's eerie voice as the narrator lends an alternative style of dismal overtones that help convey the situation as it was during that time period. I haven't finished yet...can't wait to get home! See the Barnes & Noble website for more details: http://www.bn.com/
