Ella moved to Yonkers New York after her parents divorced

When Ella was a teenager she went to a numerous amount of schools

Ella went to a contest in Harlem and was supposed to dance but instead she started singing  and got into the Chick Webb orchestra after she won


Then she went to reformatory school and escaped

It was a very sad day on June 15,1991

Ella overcame jail by running away, overcame segregation by singing in a white people club, overcame discrimination by being the first black to sing in white people club, and overcame her mother's death by teaching herself to survive by running errands for illegal gambling joints.
Ella gave her best to sing.
Ella won the nation's highest award for artistic excellence, won a noble degree in music from Yale University, won the Presidential Medal Of Freedom.
Ella was the Scat Queen and the daughter of Jazz.

Ella dropped out of school and began running errands for owners of illegal gambling joints and she was sent to reform school.
Ella's job during her career was a jazz singer and in her younger years she was a dancer on the streets.
Ella was challenged by living on the streets and the death of her mother.
Ella's personality could be described as brave, someone who never gave up, and gave her absolute best every day.
