Ella Fitzgerald was born in Newport news Virginia

Ella was a child of William and Tempie Fitzgerald who got a divorce shortly after Ella's birth

Ella lived in Yonkers New York where she lived with her mother because her mother had split up with her father

In school and  during other parts of her life she studied music such as Jazz, and Bee bop

Ella overcame discrimination, and not having any parents

Ella worked as a singer and she sang many different types of music such as Jazz.bee bop,and skit skat.

Ella was challenged  by not having any parents and also the difficulty of

Ella's personality could be described brave, and perserverant because she never gave up on anything she did and she worked on the streets for part of her life and she didn't seem to scared about that

Ella was always a strong person. I think that because even though she feared certain things she never gave up and kept trying her best

Ella never tried to do any thing bad for example when she started running errands for owners of illegal gambling joints, she was just trying to be a nice person

Ella was best known for her amazing singing

Ella Jane Fitzgerald-Olivia

Ella Fitzgerald

Ella was a role model, helpful, loyal, and talented because she came up with the most unusual songs like Scat and Bee Bop

Ella was the daughter of William and Temple

Ella best loved being the scat master with Chick Web and Philharmonic bands, singing scat and expressing herself through her music, and getting the chance to work with many people like Norman Granz , Iraving Berlin , George , Ira Gershwin , and Cole Porter

Ella felt joyful, sad, and emotional

Ella feared that sometimes she wouldn't be able to do something and she wouldn't be able to sing in a place because of her skin color

Ella needed a home when she ran away and lived on the streets

In 1977 Ella established the Ella Fitzgerald Child Care Center in Los Angeles , California

Ella was born in Newport News, Virginia and she moved to Yonkers, New York

Ella was a person that inspired other people, never gave up, and was a great role model

FOOTWORK by Roxane Orgill

FOOTWORK  by Roxane Orgill

This is a story about a brother and sister and how they became famous dancers.  Their names were Fred and Adele Astaire.  First, Adele’s Dad said she was a born dancer.  Her brother, Fred was not that bad either.  Adele went to dancing school but the school thought Fred was just as good - maybe better!!  Their Dad found an advertisement in the paper for a school in New York so off they went!!

My favorite part:

My favorite part was when Fred decided to dance and put on ballet shoes when he was just four years old.

I would recommend this book to both boys and girls who are ages 7-13
