NUMBER THE STARS By Lois Lowry

The plot of the book is to help Annemarie's best friend Ellen. Ellen is Jewish and is likely to get killed by the Nazis. Annemarie's Uncle Hendrik sends her on a dangerous mission. She carries a basket of food in front of enemies through the deep dark woods.

The main character is Annemarie who is in conflict with society. The struggle was to save Ellen without getting caught.

Annemarie seemed to be happy and social in the beginning of the book, but in the middle of the book she was a bit more independent in order to save Ellen. Annemarie was pretty curious until Uncle Hendrik and her parents told her everything.

The middle of the book reminded me of when I was trying to keep my Halloween candy a secret from my mom. She found out eventually just like the Nazis.

I SURVIVED THE BOMBING OF PEARL HARBOR, 1941 by Lauren Tarshis

It started when Danny was play with his friend at Pearl Harbor then some Japanese airplanes came bombing the boats. When he saw the boat sink the airplane came down shooting at Danny and Danny was running to get help. Then his mom's friend came to get him out. When Danny got to his mom's friends car Danny saw blood on the car door and on his arm. he explained how he got the bloody arm. When they got in the car they drove to the base when they got there the base was bombed to! only 3 people where alive but really hurt.

The most scariest part of the book was when the Japanese airplanes bombed all the boats from pearl harbor and came swooping down and started shooting at Danny.

I think both, boys, and girls who are 7-10 years old will enjoy this book.

I would give this book a rating of 5 stars for the max.
