LILY'S CROSSING by Patricia Reilly Giff

This book takes place during World War 2. Lilly, the main character, tries to have the best summer, but she struggles because her dad is gone fighting in Paris, her best friend moved away, and her grandmother won’t stop bugging her about the darn piano. But when Albert moves into Rockaway, she finds out that even in this horrible time, friends can make the best of any situation. My favorite part was when Albert and Lilly find a little cat, and decide to keep him in Lilly’s friend’s house. I think both boys and girls who are 10-12 years old will enjoy this book.
