When Charlotte escapes from the orphanage after her favorite horse dies, she must dress as a boy and sleep in a barn hayloft. When she moves to California she meets someone who wants women to vote. Will Charlotte vote?
My least favorite part of the book is when Charlotte gets kicked in the eye by a horse and becomes half blind. I was afraid she wouldn't be able to ride again.
I would recommend this book to girls age eight and up.
