This book is about a girl named Hattie and she is traveling across the Oregon Trail with her family. She has to leave her friend behind in Booneville, Missouri. Eventually, she makes friends with a girl named Pepper. My favorite part of the book was when Hattie's uncle Milton's coffin rolled away in the river on the way to the burial grounds. I think boys and girls ages 9-12 will enjoy this book.
