This story is about a girl who is bullied at
her school and when she is out of school. She is bullied because she is the
only black person in her school, she had a boyfriend and 2 friends but her
boyfriend left because he couldn’t take it being with her when were ever they go
they get teased. One of her friends isn’t really a friend because char is
always making fun of her because of her homemade cloths and her bad hair.
Maleeka is costly teased along with a new teacher at her school with a wired
face . Maleeka is upset because she is not being nice to her when she needs it
most. Maleeka is starting to write in a journal about a
Slave. Char gets hold of it and burns it when they
were in the bathroom
The scariest part for me
was when Maleeka was walking home when 2 boys started to hit her and tell her
to kiss them. Maleeka kept saying no and trying to run but one of the boys
grabbed her hands and held them behind her back so she couldn’t get away but she
kicked them and them bit one of the boys hand while he was beating her with his
hand.
I think girls who are ages 9-14 will enjoy this book
