Ella Fitzgerald - A Vocal Virtuosa - Allie

She was born in 1917

Her mother died when she was only 15

She was the scat-singing queen

Well, only because Chick Webb thought she would be the perfect asset to his singing team

You could describe her as a hardworking soul, considering what she made and what she went through

Diabetes,illness,amputated legs

Although A-Tisket A-Tasket she made great music

She was even the first African American to sing at a club in New York City

A city where singing stars were made

Strong

A word that can only describe Ella

After a heart attack she continued to perform

Ella was a strong musician

Ella Fitzgerald, the Legendary Scat Singer-Matt

Ella Jane Fitzgerald

Ella Fitzgerald was born on April 25, 1917, in Newport News, Virginia.

Ella and her mother moved to Yonkers, New York City shortly after her birth because, sadly, her parents had just separated. Ella began to live on the streets of New York City after her mother died.

She began to learn scat music after Chick Webb invited her join his swing band. Chick Webb taught her how to do scat and bebop music, two different types of jazz singing.

Ella overcame the very unfortunate event of losing her parents. She also overcame living on the streets of New York.

After Ella became a scat singer she continued sing and after awhile became the ultimate scat singer.

She was not allowed to sing in the most popular night clubs because she had dark skin. This was very challenging for her as she was trying to grow as a popular musician.

Ella was a very independent person. Especially in her childhood because she lived all by herself on the tough streets of New York City.

She was always very hard working and determined. She never gave up in all of her life after all of the hard problems she faced.

Her amazingly fast and good scat singing made her one of America's most famous musicians of all time.

Ella Jane Fitzgerald was and is the undying flame that lights our musical heritage. She is one of the best musicians the US has ever experienced.

Ella Fitzgerald: Vocal Virtuosa - Catherine

Ella was born in Newport News, Virginia

Ella was a child of William and Temipe and the daughter of scat, bebop and jazz.

She moved to Yonkers, New York, there she ran favors for owners of illegal gambling joints. Police caught her, and she then lived in reform school. Then she ran away and lived in the streets. She died in Beverly Hills, California.

Ella overcame whites not allowing black people like her, to preform in famous concert halls.

She worked as a generous charity donator and an influential jazz singer

She was challenged by white people and segregation laws; for not letting her do what whites could do.

Ella's personality could be described as a bit of rebellion, with some kindness and loyalty.

She always had a talent of singing, and was the star in Chick Webb's band.

She was never a hurtful person, and didn't care about what color someone was when they came to hear her sing.

She was best known for her 14 Grammy Awards; Kennedy Center Honors, an honorary doctorate degree in music and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Also, for her unique but popular songs.

Ella shared her songs to the world and was truly the mother of jazz. She was compassionate and cared for others, and didn't care what anyone had something bad to say about her songs. Her songs had rhythm and were influential. She was a successful and popular African American bebop, scat and jazz singer.
