Was bright, successful, determined, and kind.
Daughter of William and Temple.
Who loved dancing, singing in the glee club, and playing sports with the boys in her neighborhood.Who felt grateful for her friend, Marilyn Monroe, who convinced the club owner to let her join the Mocambo, scared of reform school, sad of how many times she divorced.
Who feared racial segregation and prejudice.     
Who needed­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ to get legs amputated because of diabetes.                                                                      Who gave her twenty-sixth concert at Carnegie Hall. 
Ella from Newport News, Virginia to Yonkers, New York, from a Reform school  to Carnegie hall where the best artists preformed.
Ella was a popular and influential singer.
