Diary of an Irish Mill Girl: Mary Driscoll by Barry Denenberg
This book is about a girl named Mary Driscoll who lived in Ireland and was sent to America for a better life. Mary worked in a mill and met many people. About 3-4 months of being in America Mary’s parents die from black fever. Mary is horrified but happy to be alive and with her aunt.
The saddest part was when Mary’s parents die in Ireland just before Mary got enough money for them to come to America.
I think girls who are age 10-12 will enjoy this book.
