Wringer by Jerry Spinelli

This book is about a boy who loves pigeons but lives in a town where they have a pigeon shooting contest. After they are shot, if the pigeons are still alive, wringers "wring their necks"...despite all his love for them, the young boy must still be a wringer... My favorite part was when you discover that the boy has been secretly keeping a pet pigeon. I think boys and girls age 10-12 will enjoy this book RATING: ***and 3/4 NN
