The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford

This book is about three domestically raised animals, two dogs and a cat, who run away from the person who is taking care of them while their owners are on vacation. They encounter many dangers, but in the end, find their owners. My favorite part was when the cat gets swept down a river. A lonely little girl named Helvi finds him and takes him in, until he is strong enough to rejoin his companions and leave. It is very sweet. The River by Gary Paulsen

A man named Derek comes by Brian Robeson’s house and asks him to go back to the Canadian wilderness so that Derek could learn about survival. Brian says yes. Then Derek gets struck by lightning and gets in a coma. The lightning also struck the radio so the radio was broken. Then he saw a trading post across the river. He has to go across the river. Will he make it? Read the book to find out. My favorite part of the book was when he has to go across the river and the river is so wild so he has to survive. I love when people have to survive. My opinion on the grosses part of the book is toward the end. Don’t worry it won’t ruin the book. Brian is watching a couple of wolves eat the moose he was watching…. ALIVE!!!! They were eating the mooses rump (or butt) while the moose was still alive!!!!! It was nasty!!! The book is about how a now grown-up Gage is retelling his experience to 3 young cousins during a dark and stormy night (perfect mood-setting). If you like Maguire's combination of quirky yet eloquently descriptive writing, this novel is perfect for you, boy or girl, at any age! RATING: ****and a half (sometimes, it's just TOO silly!) LLL

"Montreal" by Stillman D. Rogers

This book tells you all about Montreal's cool facts, famous landmarks, and stuff like that. Well, Montreal is on an island shaped like a boomerang, and has Ste Helene and Notre Dame close by. Some famous landmarks are the Notre Dame Basilica, Mont-Royal, Jardin Botanique, and the Olympic Park. There were many different types of people, but the first people were French. In 1996, the city's population was 1,016, 376. The economy feeds on Banking, financing, insurance companies, stock markets and manufacturing. There are also many ski resorts open year round. The landscape is gorgeous, from the flowers, to the streams, to the carefully architected cities. The most interesting thing I learned was that Notre Dame was actually created by the dirt and rocks that were dug out of the subway in Montreal, and were dumped in the river. I think that any age from kids to adults would want to learn a little bit about Montreal. RATING: **** *kool~kiddo*

This book is about a boy who time travels to the date of the baseball cards. Then he meets Babe Ruth! He goes to the 1932 world series game 3 and sees Ruth point with 2 fingers to right center field. A girl named Molly Moon hypnotized the adoption center owner Ms. Adderson to snip up her suits and like her because she hated Molly more than any thing. She also hypnotizes Edna, the cook. Edna cooks Molly the best spaghetti and the bully the spiciest food. After hypnotizing many people Molly becomes a braodway star. My favorite part was when Molly hypnotizes Mrs. Anderson to snip her suits adn wear her teeth on a necklace, and to put her underwear on her head! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

This book is about a querky kid who is oddly famous in The Wizard World about living from a deadly Wizard attack from The Dark Lord Voledomort. Harry Potter Who lives with his horrible Aunt, Uncle and fat cousin. While they are on vacation when Harry gets a letter from a giant. Then he goes with the giant (Hagrid) to get his school supplies. Then He gets to Hogwarts meeting some new friends (Ron and Hermonie) There They meet an evil little devil Draco Malfoy. Then he becomes the youngest seeker in a decade. For Christmas he gets an invisibility cloak. He uses it go and see his family in the mirror of Erised. In the end he has to get past a three headed dog get on a flying broom and play a giant chess game. The he sees one of his teachers who is possessed by Lord Voldemort. Then it ends. My Favorite part of the book is when Harry, Ron and Hermione go through the trapdoor, but he has to get past a giant three headed dog! After that they get stuck in magical root type things called Devils Snare. After they get past Devils Snare, Harry rides a magic broom to get a flying key and open the door. Then they have to play a giant game of Knight's Chess where Ron sacrifices himself. Harry and Hermione to go through the door after they win the chess game. After that a dead troll is in a room where Harry and Hermione pass through that room there is a table in a dungeon-like room where Hermione and Harry drink potions so Hermione can go back to help Ron. Harry goes to see who is behind the madness at Hogwarts.

I think anyone will enjoy this book

They need help going throw the priklely long maze so they get a furrybear to help them then they got to Brill witch was the goal. It is about Percy, Annabeth and Grover who go on a quest to the underworld to find the Master Bolt that Ares stole from Zeus. Follow up with The Secrets of Vesuvius, The Pirates of Pompeii, and the Assassins of Rome; they are all part of the Roman Mysteries series.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Harrows by J K Rowling

Well, what can I say...this book is the epitome (the BEST) as of yet. Author J K Rowling has outdone herself...I especially loved that she didn't spend half the book re-explaining some things that occured in the past 6 books, as this book was already long enough. She must have felt that if you haven't read them yet, now's not the time to jump in! This last installment focuses on Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they ditch school to fulfill Dumbledore's last wishes that they locate and destroy the remaining horcruxes to bring about Lord Voldemort's timely and overdue demise. This book is not for the feint of heart...if some of the past books upset you, then don't read this one...not everyone lives happily ever after. That said, Rowling has masterfully woven a tale sure to please the most ardent fantasy lover. The details and foreshadowing are fantastic, and without giving the ending away, the finale is nothing less than perfect. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! The Great Good Thing by Roderick Townley

This book was a unique fantasy about the possibility of storybook characters having a real life separate from that of what the reader imagines. The story itself is much like a play to them, and they must be ready when a reader opens the book. But have you ever imagined what could happen if no one read their story for a very, very long time? What if the characters get bored and stray off? What would happen to the story if characters changed their roles, or forgot their lines??? Do they ever get to know the readers??? Possibilities are presented in this book...a little slow in the middle, but a clean beginning and ending. You might like it...try it and see! I think girls ages 8-10 might like this book. This book is about when Violet, Klaus, and Sunny go to a mountain because they think their parents might still be alive. Then Count Olaf captured Sunny. It turned out out their parents weren’t alive but Quigly the brother of Isorda was still alive. My favorite part was when Sunny learned to speak. This book is about a boy (Jake) who is off for the summer goes to join his uncle who is a sailor on his ship. But the ship isn’t there! So instead they join a new ship, and then Jake is on his own as his ship get attacked by pirates, joins their crew, and steals Spanish gold! And more adventures. But, I won’t tell you everything so read on to find out more! My favorite part was when Jake’s pirate crew meets a another pirate crew and goes out to join a attack a Spanish camp filled with Gold! Stirling ends up having delicate health and cannot play. Kits family then has paying guests to help raise money because Kits dad’s company closes. My favorite part of the book is when kit finds out that Stirling has delicate health. Stirling cannot play and catches a cold and has to stay in bed . I think girls ages 7-10 will enjoy this book.
