The Invention of Hugo Caberet by Brian Selznick
This book was incredible...Hugo is a a young boy lives in a train station with his uncle, who maintains the station's clocks. The uncle stays out later and later, and one day never comes back. Hugo must take his uncle's place and fend for himself, all the while trying to fix an automaton, his only link to his father. But an angry old shop keeper seems bent on Hugo's destruction. Will no one help him???
There are over 150 illustrations...the story is as much visual as it is a literary book. It won this year's Caldecott medal!
I think kids of all ages will enjoy this book.
