This book is about a half blood (half human, half god) named Percy Jackson. He goes on a quest to find Zeus’s thunderbolt because Zeus is blaming his father, Poseidon for the theft.

My Favorite part was when Percy battles a fire breathing Chimera in the Gateway Arch, diving 600 feet into the Mississippi River.

I think both boys and girls ages 10+ will enjoy this book.

Then he is accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt and Hades’ helm of darkness, and must have them returned in ten days. Next, the Oracle predicts a horrible ending for him. Will he survive his quest??? A part of the book that I liked was the table of contents. The names of the chapters are hilarious, and you should read them before you start the story. This book is about the things you can think about. It’s about everything you can think about. You can think about yellow or blue, red, pink, a horse, a gopp, a schlopp, cherries, gloves, snuvs, black, water, sky, boat, white, bloogs, Na Nupp, and everything else there is to think about.Probably every single one. All of the parts are random, and all of the parts are monotonous. They are all weird and use too much imagination, and they have inaudible words. Plus, all of the parts don’t even make sense. I think kids who are 1-2 years old will enjoy this book.

To jellybeans & hollister247: Yes, Avi has written MANY books, and we have LOTS at Lane Library...just type "AVI" into the OPAC and click "AUTHOR", and you'll see a list of 35 books that we own, like the Poppy and Rye series, the Crispin series, and MANY more. Avi is well known in literary circles for his great writing...and he is amazingly diverse (meaning he writes about LOTS of different stuff). He does a ton of research, and really gets into his books and that makes him so believable. I would highly recommend his books. Hope you try some! LLL

Both the wind and the snow shape the land and keep it cold. Canada has a great economy! The land attracts over 1,000,000 tourists a year. There are also opportunities for teachers, doctors and nurses, manufacturers, miners, farmers, and fishermen. My favorite part is that it has many interesting facts. This book was incredible...Hugo is a a young boy lives in a train station with his uncle, who maintains the station's clocks. The uncle stays out later and later, and one day never comes back. Hugo must take his uncle's place and fend for himself, all the while trying to fix an automaton, his only link to his father. But an angry old shop keeper seems bent on Hugo's destruction. Will no one help him??? There are over 150 illustrations...the story is as much visual as it is a literary book. It won this year's Caldecott medal! I think kids of all ages will enjoy this book.
